If you spend a lot of time in Microsoft Office, you can save time by customizing your own keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts are just one way to streamline how you work in Microsoft Office, but they can make a big difference, especially for tasks you use often.
A keyboard accelerator allows you to select a menu command or button by pressing ALT+<single letter>. For example, to open the Edit menu, press ALT+E. You can rearrange and modify toolbar buttons, menus, and menu commands by using the Customize dialog box. Instructions are provided for changing the settings using the mouse and using only the keyboard.
Keyboard accelerators for stored procedures using the Ctrl key can be created from the Keyboard page of the Tools/Options dialog box.

Some commands are available only when SQL Server Management Studio is displaying relevant content. If no commands on the menu are available, the menu item will not be available.

Mac OS X has its own keyboard shortcuts in addition to Wordâs keyboard shortcuts. When you press a key or a key combination, Mac OS X searches first to see whether a task is assigned to that shortcut in Mac OS X system preferences. If you want to use a particular keyboard shortcut in Word, you have to check to make sure that your desired shortcut isnât already assigned to do something else by Mac OS X.

Making your own shortcuts
You can assign keyboard shortcuts to Word commands and change the ones that Microsoft assigned. Word doesnât force you to stick with the default shortcuts. You can assign and reassign shortcuts as you wish. To access the Customize Keyboard dialog and set a keyboard shortcut, take these steps:
Save a document with one or more custom shortcuts as a template so that when you open that template, the keyboard shortcuts you customized apply only to the documents created from that template.
